Though it defied logic, reason, and even FIFA’s own technical evaluation, Qatar’s bid for the 2022 World Cup was a success. And while this is certainly a victory for the few people in Qatar who seem to care, the man smiling widest has to be Zidane.  Like many other famous names, Zidane was paid exorbitantly to support Qatar’s bid. He appeared at matches and even starred in a very successful commercial for the cause.  According to The New Republic, his deal guaranteed him $3 million regardless of the bid’s success and a whopping $15 million if Qatar got the event. Well, they got it, so now Zidane gets his $15 million.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho claims that France legend Zinedine Zidane will join the Blancos’ coaching set-up in the very near future.  The former European and World Cup winner has expressed an interest to join Mourinho’s coaching staff and it looks as if Zidane’s wish is about to come true.

It must be cool having Zizou as your dad. He was after all probably the most gifted footballer of his generation and seemed to be effortlessly cool and well respected by all and sundry.  Enzo is now 16 and is part of the Real Madrid youth set up and apparently getting better every day and the big talking point is whether the teenager will opt to play for Spain or France at international level.

French legend Zinedine Zidane has told press his son Enzo – full name Enzo Alan Zidane Fernandez – may opt for Spain when the time comes to choose his international career path.

Zidane has four sons, three of whom play in Real Madrid’s youth team ranks. Enzo Zidane, who qualifies to turn out for the World Cup winners after living in Spain for more than eight years, has been singled out as a future star and was rumoured to be on the verge of a call up to Spain’s U15s last year.
