Manchester United are reportedly very close to sealing a deal to sign Valencia’s Spanish international attacker David Silva this summer. The 24 year old flair player has been linked with a move away from the Mestalla for the the best part of three years but a deal is apparently close to being done to bring the winger to Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to offer a fee in the region of £28m for Silva and many believe that a deal may include the possibility of a young Manchester United player being sent on loan in the other direction with the likes of Federico Macheda and Brazilian Fabio being most likely to complete a season long spell at the La Liga club.

Valencia have been in financial difficulties for a few years and the need to sell one of their prized trio (David Villa, David Silva and Juan Mata) has reached a peak and the Spanish side seem loathed to lose prolific striker David Villa and are apparently more open to cashing in on Silva.

Manchester United are apparently keen on adding more creativity to their midfield and the fact that David Silva can play in a number of roles from out and out winger to the man in the hole behind the strikers, appeals to the Old Trafford boss.

Real Madrid have offered Chelsea the chance to sign 22-year-old Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain in the summer should Carlo Ancelotti fail in his attempt to prise Fernando Torres from Liverpool. Higuain is currently embroiled in a contract dispute with Real Madrid and is demanding an annual salary of $6 million to make the switch to Chelsea. Higuain has been one of Real’s star performers this season with 26 league goals.

According to sources in Argentina, Real Madrid is set to beat Premiership teams to the signing of much-coveted Benfica winger Angel Di Maria, with a deal already agreed between the two clubs. The 22-year-old Argentina international, who originally joined Benfica in 2007 for $8.7 million from Rosario Central, is expected to cost Real in the region of $45 million.

Sir Alex Ferguson has set his sights on Real Madrid’s in form Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain. The Old Trafford boss is looking for some new firepower and has earmarked the former River Plate man as a potential summer signing.

Manchester United are hoping that reports of unrest at the Bernabeu and that in fighting between Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo could help make such a move a possibility. Ferguson has watched on from the sidelines as Dimitar Berbatov continues to flatter to deceive leaving the club needing to bring in a forward who can carry the Wayne Rooney’s burden.

Higuain has had a great season thus far and has managed to keep fellow United target Karim Benzema on the Bernabeu bench but summer changes that may well lead to Manuel Pellegrini leaving the Spanish giants a new wave of Galaticos heading to the club could help Sir Alex to clinch a deal to bring the £25m rated Argentine international to Old Trafford.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has told star striker Carlos Tevez that he should leave the club in the summer if he is not happy. Reports have surfaced in recent weeks that Tevez has become disillusioned with life at City under Mancini and could ask for a move if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League this season. Tevez, who has scored 22 league goals this season, criticized Mancini before the defeat by Manchester United and said that the club’s owners had made the wrong decision in sacking Mark Hughes as manager in December.

Real Madrid are preparing to spark another summer transfer row with Manchester United by launching a $30 million move for lft back Patrice Evra. Bernabeu director general Jorge Valdano has identified a number of candidates — which include Arsenal‘s Gael Clichy, Fiorentina’s Juan Manuel Vargas and Chelsea‘s Ashley Cole — but Evra is said to be at the top of the list on the recommendation of former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Liverpool is considering a summer bid for Dutch international Rafael van der Vaart, having been offered the chance to sign the midfielder by Real Madrid. Club officials met in the Spanish capital before Liverpool’s Europa League semifinal against Atletico Madrid, with Real taking the opportunity to try to offload several players deemed surplus to requirements by the club president, Florentino Perez. Liverpool registered its interest in Van der Vaart, although uncertainty about the club’s ownership, available transfer funds and manager Rafa Benitez’s future cloud the move.

AC Milan’s Brazilian youngster Alexandre Pato is set to join Chelsea this summer in a $66 million deal according to reports out of Italy. It’s speculated that Milan are planning to introduce a salary cap and the financial restrictions at the club could result in the sale of Pato for the right offer. Pato, 20, was the subject of strong interest from the Blues last summer when Milan turned down a $59 million bid.
