Roberto Mancini has given Emmanuel Adebayor the green light to leave Manchester City in January. Adebayor has been frozen out by Mancini and is desperate to join Juventus after failing to claim a regular place at City. Adebayor cannot leave City until the transfer window re-opens in January, but the team will not stand in the striker’s way in the New Year. Mancini has told Adebayor he will be free to leave for around $22 million or on loan.

As Landon Donovan kicked off the MLS offseason in style, rumors about his future in the league continued to swirl in the aftermath of comments from Everton boss David Moyes. When asked by Sky Sports if he would be happy to see Donovan return, he responded. “We would be, we have said it every time I get asked.”

Ateltico Madrid striker Diego Forlan has been offered to crosstown rivals Real for $24 million according to reports in Spain. The Uruguayan striker was one of the star performers at last summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa but it is thought that his relationship with Atletico manager Quique Sanchez Flores has deteriorated beyond repair. Reports claim that an intermediary made the offer to Real Madrid and that the fee, which represents the release clause in Forlan’s contract, is negotiable.

Tottenham are ready to offer Gareth Bale a new contract on the back of his stunning display against European champions Inter Milan. Bale’s spectacular form has alerted the world’s biggest clubs. However, manager Harry Redknapp is confident of keeping the 21-year-old Welshman and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will make the first move by offering to increase his pay and extend a deal which runs until 2014. Bale is currently earning $48,000 a week — less than half what the club’s top-paid players Robbie Keane and Rafael van der Vaart receive.

Michael Owen is rumoured to be considering leaving the Premier League and heading for the MLS. The injury prone Manchester United man is apparently very disillusioned with life in the English top tier and believes his future may lay elsewhere and the chance of a new challenge in the States could well be gladly accepted.

Sir Alex Ferguson wants Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina to be Manchester United‘s new No.1. United boss Ferguson believes Reina may become available because of unrest at Anfield. The Spain international is to hold talks with Liverpool’s new owners NESV after becoming concerned about the club’s long-term direction. Reina is believed to be unhappy that manager Roy Hodgson is using 68-year-old former keeper Mike Kelly as part of his coaching team and he has been putting Reina through some training routines.

Manchester United are reportedly considering an audacious move for Real Madrid star Kaka. Sir Alex Ferguson is resigned to losing want-away striker Wayne Rooney and is adamant that any funds made from the sale of the England International will be pumped right back into the club’s transfer budget and with this in mind he is hoping to lure the Brazilian to Old Trafford.
