L.A.-based GPPR presents the lookbook for its Spring/Summer 2012 collection, entitled “All I Wanted to Be Is What I Became” (appended with the overwrought subheading “A Social Study of Civil Disobedience in the Land of the Lost and Found”). The looks seek to examine the rebel persona that inhabits just one aspect of the brand’s identity, featuring a generous mix of patterns throughout — including patchwork plaids, leopard skin and paisley — plus a color palette that hews to neutral shades like indigo and khaki. While not exactly the kind of collection that shakes up the system, the pieces display an appealing cohesiveness and straightforward wearability that nicely expresses a uniquely Southern Californian vibe. View more looks in the gallery below.

Star Wars Identities – The Exhibition: A Character-Driven Adventure Into Identity | Preview Video

fbdc1 star wars identities exhibition Star Wars Identities – The Exhibition: A Character Driven Adventure Into Identity | Preview Video

Star Wars Identities is a new interactive museum exhibit, created by Lucasfim Ltd and Montreal’s X3 Productions, that explores the concept of identity through character-driven study, focusing especially on the development of Luke and Anakin Skywalker. The experience is described as a “customized interactive identity quest” through which visitors will develop a better understanding of what makes the Star Wars characters who they are, while examining their own identity with one simple question: What forces shape you? In seeking to map out the concept of identity, the exhibit will highlight three major themes: origins of the characters, the influences that shape them, and the choices they make during their life. “Making-of” featurettes will trace the development of several iconic Star Wars characters, revealing how they became who they are and the choices that could have led them to different paths. The exhibit will showcase a vast collection from the Lucasfilm archives, consisting of some 200 objects including props, models, costumes and artwork. The pieces span the entire Star Wars canon — the original Star Wars films, the prequel trilogy, and animated Cone Wars feature.

Star Wars Identities is set to premier at the Montreal Science Centre from April 19th through September 16th. Go here for schedule and ticket information.

SEIKO Astron GPS Solar Watch – World’s First GPS Solar Watch

bd4fa seiko astron gps solar 01 SEIKO Astron GPS Solar Watch – World’s First GPS Solar Watch

Just as SEIKO‘s introduction of the world’s first quartz watch back in 1969, the unveiling of its Astron GPS Solar timepiece at this week’s BASELWORLD transforms the world of horology once again. With its own Caliber 7X52 movement and encased in titanium, there are no remarkable differences between the SEIKO Astron GPS Solar watch and many of its contemporaries. The truly unique aspect, however, is the Astron’s ability to adjust time accurately and automatically to whatever timezone its in. While such watch already exist on the market, the Astron will be the first to utilize orbiting GPS satellites instead of radio transmission towers. There are several immediate advantages, including limitless range and the inclusion of all 39 timezones around the globe. To activate the automatic calibration, simple push a button and the high-tech system will do the rest. In fact, with its perpetual calendar accurate to the year 2100 and a solar power unit that functions in any forms of light source, the SEIKO Astron GPS Solar watch is taking a first step in a brand horology category. Prices ranging from US$ 1,900 to $ 2,600, the SEIKO Astron GPS Solar will be available at select dealers later this year.

Michael Jordan’s Highland Park Home On The Market

393e3 michael jordan highland park mansion 01 Michael Jordan’s Highland Park Home On The Market

Michael Jordan’s mansion in Highland Park has hit the market, and you’re going to have to have sell a lot of rare Air Jordans if you want to put in an offer. Listed at a cool $ 29 million, the compound measures over 56,000 square feet, with nine bedrooms, a three-bedroom guest house, indoor-outdoor entertaining and pool area, tennis court, putting green and 15-car garage. Needless to say, there’s an attached indoor full-sized basketball court complete with a sound system tuned to provide the right acoustics for the space. The tastefully appointed house is where Michael and now former wife Juanita raised their three children. One prospective buyer has already complained about the lack of “Nike Air” on the gates. (We kid.) Check out more looks following the click. via: Baird & Warner
